Omar: Soup Kitchen Shoes

A cook noticed Omar one morning while serving breakfast at The Salvation Army’s St. Paul breakfast program. It was the middle of winter and Omar’s tennis shoes were held together with duct tape. The cook asked Omar what size shoe he wore and went to find him a pair of donated shoes. The cook came back empty handed, as there were no shoes in Omar’s size, and then it dawned on him — he and Omar wore the same size. The cook gave the boots he was wearing to Omar and grabbed his running shoes out of his trunk to wear the rest of the day.
